“Through three years of community tire safety testing, we have found that the majority of drivers in the Chinese market often overlook the importance of tire safety and tire maintenance. There are two main reasons: First, consumers usually do not know enough about tire related knowledge; Secondly, it is very rare to visit professional tire shops regularly to check the condition of their tires. Michelin's introduction of tire safety testing into the community is specifically designed to address the current situation and the crowd." Michelin China's distribution manager for passenger car and light truck tire replacement market Mr. Liu Peng said: "Through this activity, community residents can easily understand their own car's tire safety status without leaving home, and quickly lift the tyre safety hazards. At the same time, Michelin also brings them a lot of tire safety knowledge I think this is why this activity has been popular among local residents for three years. We plan to continue to promote this activity further."
The "Michelin Community Tyre Safety Test" has exhibited unique features for three years. First of all, this is a consistent activity of Michelin. Since August 2005, the community tire safety inspection organized by Michelin China has been carried out in nearly 230 communities across the country. It has provided tire safety inspections for more than 50,000 vehicles, including tire wear, air pressure, etc., and has found and solved the problem. There are more than 16,000 tire safety hazards. Secondly, the activity covers a wide range of areas, covering more than 100 prefecture-level cities except Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Tibet, Xinjiang, Qinghai and Ningxia. Again, the event is a voluntary event for people who are willing to send "safety to the home". The 720 top retailers selected by Michelin go to the districts with Michelin. While more than 3,500 Michelin dealers across the country cannot even go to the community to conduct tire safety tests, 90 percent of retailers can provide free tire safety inspections in stores.
The "Michelin tire safety test" mainly includes: tire pressure detection, tire tread wear detection, tire scratch detection, and valve missing condition inspection. While testing activities are in progress, Michelin also popularizes tire safety knowledge among community residents, such as how often tire pressure should be checked and why tire alignment should be done. After the test is completed, the owner can also get a tire inspection sheet and maintenance advice specifically for his car.
Recalling many of Michelin's safety initiatives in 2008, including: “The 2008 Michelin Tyre Safety Experience Journey†entered Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenyang one after another; Michelin “enters your own company†into a leapfrog development stage; Michelin is targeting cards. The “Worry-Free Travel†service was launched for the members of the bus fleet; Michelin sponsored anti-drunk driving projects in Guangxi and so on.
