It is understood that with the rapid increase of the new ship's load capacity, the tonnage of the hull rudder and propeller is doubled. For example, the propeller of the 4800TEU container ship is 50 tons, while the propeller of the 10000 TEU container ship has reached more than 100 tons. The pneumatic hoist manual installation method has been difficult to complete the installation of the 10000 TEU container ship, so each shipyard is exploring and seeking reliable hull rudder and propeller mounting process. In response to the needs of shipyards, Shanghai Ship Research Institute has successfully developed a special tooling equipment for the hull rudder and propellers – the ankle work platform.
At the end of 2012, Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. ordered a WZT-200 type ankle work platform from the institute. In July of this year, the tooling equipment completed the ballast test and simulation installation test of the first stage platform. In August, the technical staff of Shanghai Ship Research Institute “shipped†in the new Yangtze shipbuilding, accompanied by the shipyard technicians, successfully completed the positioning and installation of the second stage 4800 box container hull shaft and rudder. The weight of the ship's propeller is more than 50 tons, and the weight of the rudder blade is 72 tons. This is the first time since the successful development of the ankle work platform, the propeller and rudder blade have been installed for the first time. The successful completion of the two-stage simulation installation and the actual ship installation has made the shipyard more and more recognized the reliability, safety and efficiency of the rudder blade positioning installation and the installation of the propeller on the large-scale ship. Next, the ankle work platform will be used for rudder paddle installation for 10,000 container ships.
