According to an overseas media report from Algiers on July 14th, Algeria, a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), announced details of the country’s 7th round of tenders for oil and gas exploration and production licenses on July 13 and invited domestic and foreign Companies with pre-qualified bids bid for blocks that they believe have huge oil potential.
The Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mining stated in a statement on the government’s official website that the 7th round of Algerian bidding for oil and gas exploration and production licenses will involve 45 blocks in 16 regions. The deadline for submission of bids is 10 o'clock local time on December 3, 2008 (9 o'clock GMT).
The statement said that Algeria will announce the list of successful bidders at 2 o'clock (11 o'clock GMT) on the afternoon of December 3, 2008 at 2 o'clock local time on December 3, 2008.
