Ascenda High Performance Materials announced on February 27 that it plans to invest US$1.2 billion in its Alvin production facility in Texas to build propane dehydrogenation (PDH) facilities. The PDH facility will use propane to produce polymerization grade and chemical grade propylene.
The PDH plant is expected to start in January 2014 and be put into production in the fourth quarter of 2015. The device will be built in Ascend's existing Chocolate Bayou unit at Alvin.
