China's automobile industry is 70 times more exporting than unqualified cars in 2002

The reporter learned recently that in 2002, when car sales and production were unusually hot, there was a dissonant tone in China’s auto exports: According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2002, the total vehicle exports were 43,100, a year-on-year increase of 75.69%. However, the total exports of snowmobiles, golf carts and other manned motor vehicles, including 21,100 vehicles, were included in the total export volume, which led to a rapid increase in the total volume of automobile exports. If such models are deducted, the annual automobile exports will be 22,000 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 12.53%. The export volume of cars, SUVs and special vehicles is only 1,000, 400 and 1200 vehicles respectively.

In stark contrast to this, in 2002, China's imports of automobiles have grown substantially. In 2002, the vehicle import continued the strong growth of the previous year (up 70% in the previous year), and the number of imported cars in the year was 127,200, an increase of 76.93% year-on-year. Of which 70,300 were imported cars, an increase of 50.82%. Even according to the new statistics, the number of imported cars and cars is still 2.95 times and 70 times that of China's exports of cars and cars!

The number of such exports is obviously not in proportion to the production and sales volume of domestic cars in China last year. In 2002, China's auto production was 3.25 million, followed by the United States, Japan, Germany and France. Compared to such a huge amount of production, the number of exported automobiles accounts for only 1.3% of the total automobile production in China. According to relevant experts, there are many reasons for the lack of auto exports. For example, the competitiveness of China's auto companies is not strong, and it is difficult to break through foreign technical barriers such as performance and environmental protection.

It is understood that the automotive industry in many countries has benefited considerably from exports. In 1981, South Korea’s total auto exports were only 17,000 vehicles, while in 2000 this number increased to 1.54 million, an increase of 90 times. This has also led to the rapid development of the Korean automotive industry.
