Xinsong made a full record of its domestic mobile robots

Generic Chevrolet CAmaro was a prototype of the Hornet, and gained popularity in the sci-fi movie "Transformers." What is rarely known is that the AGV robot of China Xinsong Robots (72.14 +0.47%, BUY) company helped to complete the final assembly in the general assembly shop.

What makes New Matsuna proud is that, at home and abroad, as long as the AGV model is used for automobile assembly, it is almost always the product of Xinsong. Qu Daokui, President of Xinsong Robotics Co., Ltd. said that Xinsong's industrial robots are the domestic leaders, but AGV has achieved global leadership.

It is understood that from the establishment of Xinsong to today, the number of relevant IPR types of AGV has reached more than 80, and several hundred AGV projects have been completed. In this field, the monopoly advantage has been maintained for more than ten years.

It can be said that the Xinsong AGV robot is like a sharp knife, piercing the monopoly of international robot giants. The data shows that in 2014, on the domestic robot market, only the localization of AGV robots reached 78.13%, while the domestic brand share of widely used plane articulated robots and multi-joint robots was only about 10%.

Correspondingly, the patent application for China Mobile Robotics (AGV) has been increasing year by year in the past decade. According to the prediction of the GGII, the average annual growth rate of China's AGV robots will increase sharply to about 50% in the next three years. This gives the Chinese AGV robot companies, represented by Xinsong, tremendous imagination space. .

The rise of Xinsong has sporadic factors and is also the result of China’s advanced layout of cutting-edge technologies. In fact, the history of the Xinsong AGV production line is more than two decades earlier than the Xinsong robot, which was established in 2000.

As early as the 1980s, the Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences began to deploy computer integrated manufacturing systems and intelligent robots under the support of the "863 Program."

However, it is the Sino-foreign joint venture Shenyang Gold Cup Bus Company that was established in July 1991 to allow these technologies to accumulate out of the laboratory. At that time, after the other parts of the production line were installed, the foreign company that provided the assembly equipment was in default, resulting in the entire production line being unable to be put into production. The desperate Shenyang Gold Cup thought of a friend in the same city—the Shenyang Automation Institute.

Shenyang Jinbei hopes to use simple mechanical devices and manpower to install engines for cars, but it lacks intelligent automatic tracking and landing gears that cannot be achieved. “We introduced the requirements of the production line to the experts. They repeatedly verified that after more than six months, they produced mobile robots.” Qu Gang, the technical director of Jinbei Coach, recalled to the media.

This is also the earliest laser automatic guided AGV car.

“After the successful operation of the Shenyang Gold Cup assembly line, domestic automakers have begun to try to use AGV to complete the model of the car site assembly.” Wang Yupeng, deputy general manager of Shenyang Xinsong Robotics Smart Mobile Division, told the 21st Century Business Herald reporter that “there were domestic cars at the time. Most of the manufacturers use the products of the Shenyang Automation Institute.” In the process of continuous industrialization, the AGV technology of the Shenyang Automation Institute has been upgraded. In 1995, its designed AGV products were exported to South Korea’s Samsung Airlines.

Thanks to the successful design of the AGV assembly line for Shenyang Gold Cup and the export of Samsung's technology, Xinsong has just been established and is well-known in the AGV industry. However, this time, Xinsong AGV is still not an industry champion. "Because AGV has a limited application in the automotive field. Many small car manufacturers do not even have sufficient funds to establish an AGV production line." Wang Yupeng said.

The turnaround came in 2006. According to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China’s auto sales exceeded 7.2 million vehicles in 2006, a year-on-year increase of more than 25%. It surpassed Japan for the first time to become the second largest consumer of automobiles after the United States. In that year, the profit of the Chinese auto industry also achieved strong growth, which was 46% higher than in 2005 to RMB 76.8 billion. The Xinsong AGV production line then entered the domestic auto industry on a large scale.

"Foreign companies also want to enter this market, but Xinsong AGV has advantages." Wang Yupeng is full of confidence. Since Chinese auto companies often adjust the production of models based on market sales, the AGV assembly lines provided by foreign companies are difficult to adapt to this change. “We can transform our products according to customer needs and provide after-sales services. In addition, the price of the products also differs by about 40%.” Based on the advantages of technology, price and local service, Xinsong has occupied approximately 95% of the total market for Chinese cars.

In 2007, Xinsong AGV won the opportunity to enter the world stage. At the time when the U.S. economic crisis erupted, GM’s days were hard to beat. GM's global equipment procurement department found at Shanghai GM and Liuzhou Wuling that the average level of Xinfeng's AGV operation records greatly exceeds that of its foreign counterparts and the price is relatively cheap. General Motors then issued a bid to AGV Global. Xinsong finally won the victory and received more than 70 purchase orders worth more than RMB 70 million. Since then, Xinsong AGV, with its own intellectual property rights, has successively exported to the United States, Canada, Russia, South Korea, and India.

It is understood that at present, Xinsong AGV R&D personnel has reached about 150 people, and the annual R&D expenditure is about 8% of sales.

On March 1, 2014, GB/T30029-2013 Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) General Rules for Design by Xinsong Robotics Company and “GB/T30030-2013 (AGV) Automated Guided Vehicle have been officially implemented as national standards. .
